Fact: a boss pays big because it is hard to catch. A game's return to player is a long-run average across all targets and a very large number of shots, and it does not promise that bosses return more per peso than small fish. Aiming only at bosses mostly changes the shape of your session: long stretches of nothing, broken by the occasional large payout. On a 20-minute ride, that shape often ends before any payout arrives.
